How do I lock rotation with iOS 4 / iOS 5?

The iOS 4 firmware update includes a rotation lock feature, similar to the rotation lock switch found on the first generation iPad.iPhone 4 ships with iOS 4 and also has this capability. To enable rotation lock and prevent the screen from automatically changing orientation when the iPhone is turned:1. Double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar.2. Swipe right until the last set of icons is displayed in the multitasking bar these will include play/pause and skip buttons for iPod or Pandora.3. 1. Include Keywords In The Filename: Use keywords in your image name. This is one of the best practices for image optimization. Do not include space and special characters in your image name as they will be encoded. Use hyphens to separate the keywords in the image name.
2. Add Alt Tags: Search engines cannot read an image, but they can read the alt attribute included in the image tag. Make sure that you include keywords in the alt tag of every image. Do not use the same keyword for all the images on the web page.
3. Use Relevant Anchor Text: If you are linking to another page on your site using an image, add an appropriate anchor text. Include keywords in your anchor text.
4. Reduce the Image Size: Make sure that the images are not heavy, but load quickly on the site. A slow loading image does not give the right impression about your site. You need to keep your site loading time to a bare minimum as it affects the ranking in Google to some extent.
5. Surround the Image with Text: It is not a good practice to congest a web page with too many images. Always add a little text along with your images, if only a few lines. This will give the search engines more information to crawl and index.
6. Name the Image Folder Appropriately: WordPress has a default folder called uploads, for saving all the uploaded images. You can change the name of the folder and make it keyword rich. Henceforth, every time you add an image to your WordPress blog, your image file name will be searchbot-friendly.
7. Include the Title Tag: Title tag helps you add meaningful information to the image. This is helpful particularly for a site containing a lot of images.
8. Add Images to Sitemaps: Google indexes billions of images every day. Help Google find the images in your site by adding them to the sitemap. You don’t need to create a new Sitemap; you can just add information on images to the Sitemap you already use.

1. Hidden Content:

Top of our list of black hat SEO techniques is hidden content. Hidden content comes in many guises but the basic principle is that within the code for the site there will be content stuffed with keywords, this content will not be visible to the end user of the site.

2. Meta Keyword Stuffing:

There are two Meta tags that are generally used to inform search engines of the content on the page. They reside between the tag of a page and when used incorrectly they can alert a search engine that a site is using spam techniques in an attempt to improve its ranking.

Meta Description:

The meta description should be used to describe the content of your page honestly and concisely and be 1 or 2 sentences, 3 at most.

3. Meta Keywords:

Meta Keywords should be a short list of words that inform of the main focus of the page. Meta keywords have been so misused in the past that there are few if any search engines that take any heed of them.

4. Doorway or Gateway Pages:

Doorway or Gateway pages are pages designed for search engines and not for the end user. They are basically fake pages that are stuffed with content and highly optimised for 1 or 2 keywords that link to a target or landing page. The end user never sees these pages because they are automatically redirected to the target page.

5. Link Farming:

In the real world if you were to build your house in a bad neighbour hood then your house would be affected by its surroundings. The same is true of the virtual world. Link farms or free for all (FFA) pages have no other purposes than to list links of unrelated websites. They won’t provide you with any traffic and you run the risk of having your site banned for participating. Don’t participate in link farming.

Providing pages with proper titles and meta data is essential. Titles however still carry a lot of weight and when we think of semantic mark up it is obvious why. The title of anything is a declaration as to what the content might be, so make sure your page titles are a true representation of the content of the page.

4. Keyword Research and Effective Keyword Use:

Create your website with keywords and key phrases in mind. Research keywords and key phrases you think people might use to find your site. Single words are not always the most effective target, try multi-word phrases that are much more specific to your product/service and you’ll be targeting end users that are much more likely to want what you are offering.

Use the keywords and key phrases you’ve identified effectively throughout your website. Assign each page 2-3 of the keywords you’ve identified and use the keywords throughout all the important elements of the page. Those are,

5. Quality Inbound Links:

Having inbound links to your website can be likened to having a vote for the good but there are good links and bad links so therefore votes for the good and votes that are bad. Bad links are links from web pages that aren’t regarded highly or potentially banned by search engines and have no relevance to the content of your page.

1. Run Software Update

Apple is continuously pushing out new updates for their software to fix bugs, improve compatibility, and add features. Going to the Apple menu, then Software Update right off the bat will get your Mac off to a good start. Do it a few times, too, because some updates are only available after you install other ones.

2. Enable right-click

Why Apple doesn’t do this by default is beyond me. But that seemingly single-button MacBook trackpad or Magic Mouse is very capable of right-clicking. Just go to System Preferences, choose Trackpad or Mouse and check the box next to “Secondary click”.

3. Show the full date in the menu bar

The Mac menu bar only shows the day of the week and time in the upper-right corner. Assuming you’re running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, you can also add the month and date to the menu bar by checking “Show date” in System Preferences under Date & Time > Clock. Users of older Mac OS X versions can follow this tutorial to show the full date in their menu bar.

4. Set up Exposé and Spaces

Spaces is admittedly more of an advanced feature, but window management with Exposé is for everyone – especially combined with Active Screen Corners. Many new users don’t know it exists, though. 5. Turn on the firewall

While we’re probably all fine without it thanks to Mac OS X’s excellent track record, an extra layer of security never hurts. Every Mac comes with a solid, easy to use firewall that can be enabled in System Preferences under Security. Switch it on and you’re good to go.

6. Set up Time Machine

Time Machine, Apple’s automated backup system is an absolute must for anyone who keeps valuable documents, photos, videos, music, and more on their Mac. Just plug in an external hard drive with enough free space and your Mac will know what to do.

7. Install Firefox

Now that the operating system tweaks are out of the way, it’s time to look at some must-have FREE 3rd party applications. First, of course, is Firefox. I consider Safari to be the best internet browser, but you never know when a certain site may require an alternative like Firefox to function correctly.

8. Install Glims for Safari

9. Install Flip4Mac WMV

No Windows Media Player for Mac means no compatibility with WMV and WMA files, right? Not so fast! Flip4Mac WMV is a simple plugin that makes QuickTime compatible with these media file formats.

10. Install Perian

At some point you’re likely to need compatibility with additional audio & video types. Much like Flip4Mac WMV, Perian is also a plugin that gives QuickTime access to even more file formats.

11. Install VLC Player

No matter how many QuickTime plugins you install, it will never work with everything all the time. That’s where VLC Player comes in. VLC is its own media player and it plays just about everything under the sun – perfect for those times when QuickTime doesn’t cut it.

12. Install Handbrake

Depending on how you use audio & video, Handbrake may or may not be a program you need. Do you want to rip movies from DVDs to play on your computer or iPod/iPhone? Do you need to convert video files from one format to another? Then you need Handbrake!

13. Install Chax or Adium

Everyone who uses iChat should have Chax, an add-on that opens Apple’s instant messaging program up to a slew of new features. But if that still doesn’t get iChat to a place you’d like it to be, give Adium a try. It’s a totally separate application that works with more IM services and is far more customizable than iChat, albeit not quite as polished.

14. Install Growl

Growl is a notification system that a ton of popular Mac applications support. Want to be notified when an IM buddy has signed on? When an FTP upload has finished? When a video conversion has completed? Growl is incredibly useful, but it’s only as useful as the supporting software you install. Adium, Chax, Handbrake, and Firefox all support it, for example.

15. Install StuffIt Expander

Mac OS X comes with support for ZIP files, which is the most common type of compressed folder. Every once in a while, though, you may run into a RAR file that you can’t open. StuffIt Expander takes care of that problem.

16. Delete unused languages and architectures

Did you know you can recover a few gigabytes of space on your hard drive just by removing extra language packs and outdated system architectures that come bundled in Mac OS X and 3rd party applications you’ve installed? Reset password using Lion Recovery

1. If you bought a brand new Mac with Lion pre-installed, the hard drive includes with a recovery partition that gives you access to a bunch of different tools. Here’s how to take advantage of this utility to reset your Mac’s password:
2. Shut down your Mac and turn it back on while holding down the Command and R keys at the same time until you see the Lion Recovery screen.
3. From the menu bar at the top, select Utilities > Terminal.
4. In the Terminal window type resetpassword and press Enter.
5. Use the Reset Password utility to select your hard drive, choose your user account, and enter a new password.

Reset Lion password with Single User mode

1. Shut down your Mac and turn it back on while holding down the Command and S keys at the same time until your see a black screen with white text. This is known as Single User mode.
2. You can skip this step, but it’s recommended that you don’t because it will check the consistency of your hard drive. At the prompt, type fsck -fy and press Enter.
3. Once the disk check is complete and the prompt returns, type mount -uw / and press Enter.
4. Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.opendirectoryd.plist and press Enter.
5. Type ls /Users and press Enter. All of the usernames on the computer will be listed, which is helpful if you don’t know or remember what these are.
6. Type dscl . passwd /Users/username password while replacing username with one of the users displayed in the previous step and replacing password with the new password of your choice. Press Enter. You will likely get an error message about a file or directory not being found – it’s safe to ignore this.
7. Type reboot and press Enter.
